The Two Categories of My Wardrobe

And why this outfit falls under the latter.

I guess you could say that I have a lot of clothes (or at least that's what Brad tells me). When we had our wardrobe installed in our new home a couple of weeks ago, I told myself that I'd only put pieces in there that I actually wear; a sort of capsule collection. We were lucky enough to have huge his and hers walk-in closets in our last home, whereas this one we're sharing one space, which is by no means small, just smaller. At first I was a bit shocked at how little I'd actually be able to store in there and then I realised that it's no where near as small as I initially thought, and that perhaps it was indeed a good thing; an opportunity to reduce my overflowing 'drobe. After all, who actually needs that many clothes?

I don't know about you, but the contents of my wardrobe fall into two categories: 1) the clothes that I absolutely adore, yet I don't get much wear out of them, and 2) the pieces that I wear over and over again. The latter are usually items that can be dressed up or down, and while they're often basics, they also have something that's special, like the silhouette, the material or the print.

These two new pieces from Shopbop definitely fall into the second category and will have a place in my wardrobe for a very long time. The luxe faux leather jacket is a no brainer, with its washed material, lack of collar and relaxed lapels; a wardrobe essential. It was the printed dress that instantly caught my eye with it's high neckline (a favourite of mine, as you would already know), flowing fabric and the tie at the back of the neck, which makes it a truly special piece.

The dress could easily fall into the first category, however it's something that you could easily dress up with a pair of strappy heels and a clutch, down with gladiator sandals and a cross body bag, or somewhere in-between with a leather jacket and booties (as shown), and that is why it will become one of my most worn dresses.

I hope everyone is having a lovely Hump Day Wednesday! Until tomorrow! <3
