Rejuvenating Dull Winter Skin the Eco Way

Goodbye lacklustre winter skin.
________

My skin loves the warmth, the sunshine and the fresh air. It thrives in our Aussie summers, not so much in our winters (don't even get me started about the harsh winters of the northern hemisphere). As I mentioned in Saturday's weekly round-up post, jackets and jeans do nothing for the complexion of my skin, especially now that we're in August, our last month of winter (though not the last of the cold, that's for sure). And so, I turned to one of my favourite Australian beauty brands, the certified organic Eco Tan and their Eco by Sonya body products, to help me get back my summer glow, head to toe.

Probably the most important step in rejuvenating dull winter skin is exfoliation, which we all know has so many amazing benefits. At first the Eco by Sonya Pink Himalayan Salt Scrub was really difficult to get out of the tube, but once I managed to, it didn't take long for me to realise that it was well worth it (plus, it comes out a lot easier after that). Used dry, it is a very intense exfoliator that works better than all expectations, making it one of my favourite new exfoliating products. Since it has a whole bunch of amazing ingredients, such as shea butter, coconut, grapefruit, lemongrass and peppermint oil, I try to leave it on for a few minutes before washing it off (well, if it's not too cold).

The newly launched Eco by Sonya Foaming Body Wash can only be described as Balinese heaven in a bottle. The lemongrass and grapefruit body wash for everyday use, which instantly reminds me of the tea you drink prior to a lush Balinese full body massage (it's off to a good start already!), turns into a light foam when dispersed using the pump. It gently cleans without drying the skin thanks to its organic and natural oils, and lack of soap. As the bottle suggests, I've also been using the Foaming Body Wash to aid in exfoliation with an exfoliating mitt (for when I forget to apply the Salt Scrub before hopping into the shower). And if you're not really feeling the foaming formula, then you'll love the gently lathering Eco by Sonya Coconut and Mint Body Wash, which has a distinct mint ice-cream scent; strange, I know, but delicious if you don't mind a bit of mint (or ice-cream, for that matter).

Exfoliated and cleansed, the next step is the one that makes me feel like I'm really taking care of my body. I don't know what it is about moisturising my body, but every time I take the time to do so (regrettably, no where near as much as I should in winter), it feels like the ultimate pampering. I've been using the Eco by Sonya Coconut Body Milk since the end of last year and just got a brand new bottle of it after running out of my last one (I talked about it in my Summer Beauty series video at 09:50). Sometimes body milks or butters don't give you long lasting nourishment, and there's nothing worse than spending the time to apply it and your skin feel dry again after just a few hours. One of the reasons I keep going back to this Coconut Body Milk is that it feels and looks amazing on the skin (hello glow!), as well as giving that hydrated feeling that last beyond your next wash.

And because I want to smell even more like I just stepped off the plane from Bali (oh how I miss it!), I also apply a spritz of the Eco by Sonya Coconut Deodorant. It took me a while to get used to this organic deodorant as it applies wet, but I'm a sucker for the coconut scent and it was nothing a light dabbing of a towel couldn't fix.
