My Thoughts on the Ole Henriksen Power Peel
My skin hasn't been like this in years.
________
It was 5:05PM on a Thursday and I'd just finished off the day's blog post. I decided it was a great time to trial a new peel before the weekend, so I wandered to the bathroom and, without cleansing first, apply the first step; an Almond Polish Facial Scrub. Each of the three steps are conveniently packaged in small sachets that contain the perfect amount of product. The Almond Scrub is quite sensational by itself, which is evident straight after rinsing the product off my face. My skin already felt ridiculously smooth, to the point where I was questioning whether I actually needed the peel, but I continued anyway for the sake of research.
Now it was time to massage step two, the Lemon Strip Facial Peel (which is available separately), onto my face and neck, which contains lactic, glycol and fruit acids that peel and refine the skin. There is a slight tingling during this step that only intensifies after you layer on step three, the Chamomile Comfort Facial Mask (strange since it's meant to sooth and comfort your skin). Even though I have sensitive skin, I didn't find it intolerable, which even surprised myself. I actually found the stinging sensations quite nice, especially as it developed into a lovely warming sensation, not unlike my favourite Sanctuary Spa Thermal Detox Mask.
After the prescribed 15-minutes, I took off the mask, which revealed rather pink skin, particularly around the edges of my face. There's no doubting that I looked pretty hilarious at this stage and I couldn't wait for Brad to walk through the door when he arrived home from work to see how beautiful I looked (as beautiful as a tomato). Just kidding, it wasn't that bad. In fact, it only took about 30-minutes for the redness to fade completely.
I notice instantly how insanely smooth my skin is, as well as a slightly uncomfortable tightness, so I decided to apply the Obagi Hydrate Moisturiser after the 30-minutes. At this stage, I was feeling pretty damn good about the whole experience. When I woke up the next day, any blemishes I had were healing or had disappeared entirely, not to mentioned how soft and smooth my skin felt. I was flipping excited to reveal my what seemed like new skin to the world and that excitement has only amplified since.
It's probably too soon to say, but after a couple of years (and some) of struggling with acne, I almost feel like perhaps that era has passed thanks to the Ole Henriksen Professional Spa Grade Power Peel Kit. What I can say, though, is that my skin hasn't looked or felt better in years. Honestly, I am so freaking excited about this product. Words cannot describe how damn good I feel right now. Ever since doing the peel, I've only been using the Puretopia Whisk Away Cleanser, the Kosmea Organic Rose Hip Oil and another new skincare addition, the Philosophy Renewed Hope In A Jar Dry. Last night I also very gently used the Philosophy The Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash in the shower. I'm going to stick with these products for a while since my skin seems to be loving every moment right now. After all, if you've found a good thing, stick with it! And I've definitely found a good thing. A great thing.
