Cashmere Coat and Boyfriend Jeans
Well, it’s the last week of winter and I feel like I really made the most of it before jetting off to sunnier pastures (but more on that later – or on the @lioninthewild Insta Stories if you really can’t wait). While winter in Perth is pretty much as mild as it gets, this one has to have been one of the most ‘wintry’ I’ve ever experienced at home. The mornings have been more than a bit chilly, and the days often wet and wild, and this week has been no different.
And yet, the heavens parted on this particular morning, revealing unexpected blue skies and sunshine in all of its glory. It was perfectly timed, might I add, since it was the grand opening of the spankin’ new UNIQLO Murray Street store in Perth! I still remember my very first UNIQLO experience in Shinjuku, Japan, where I left with several oversized button-up shirts that I still wear to this very day. That was four years ago and I’m still just as obsessed. You can just imagine how excited I was when I found out we were getting our very own UNIQLO. Yippee!
Earlier this year I had the privilege to go back to Tokyo and experience the inspiration brand in full force, from it’s 12-storey Ginza store to their epic Tokyo City head office, and it left me feeling even more impressed with the lifestyle that is UNIQLO. What can I say? I’m still an advertising creative that can appreciate a damn good brand.
Needless to say, I had very high expectations for the UNQLO’s very first Perth store. I mean, surely they’d give me the best of the best, right? Ladies and gentlemen, they did just that. While its colour coordinated, perfectly folded displays played absolute wonders on my love for visual organisation, what stood out for me were the local touches that go beyond the perfect basic for our Perth climate (I’m so getting an oversized puffer jacket to get me through those cold spring mornings, but the way). It’s thoughtful, it’s clever and, my goodness, it’s cool.
Of course, I had to wear my favourite UNIQLO pieces to the event (the same ones I’ve been rocking all season long) including my cashmere camel coat layered over the ultra light hooded jacket, my favourite ever (I can’t stress how much I love UNIQLO crew neck tees!) white t-shirt and a pair of blue boyfriend jeans. I then added my own personal touches to the look with a pink beanie and comfy sneakers.
Over and out.
