TRAVEL DIARY: CANADA (PART TWO)
It's hard to believe in the midst of yet another notorious Perth heatwave that just over a week ago I was playing in the snow. In fact, without my collection of holiday snaps and extensive new winter wardrobe, there really is no evidence of my extended Canadian trip ever happening. The first few days back in Perth felt like a dream, a very hot sweaty dream.
So that is when I asked myself, was it worth it? And I answer, hell freaking yes! After all memories and experiences are just as valuable as physical things, though I know many may disagree. Over the next few years in particular (and hopefully continuing throughout my life), I plan on investing in a whole lot of travel. And yes that most definitely involves more snow-chasing, though hopefully with a tropical holiday thrown in there somewhere. Truth be told, I love snow so much I've never actually been on a summer holiday.
After traversing Quebec, Brad and I ventured to Ontario where we explored Downtown Toronto, mistook one of the Great Lakes as the ocean (kidding, our geography is a little more advanced than that) and viewed the power of Niagara Falls. We then boarded a train for two-and-a-half days, where we traveled from Toronto to Edmonton in fine style. The next few weeks were filled with snowboarding on world-class mountains such as Lake Louise, Sunshine Mountain, Blackcomb and Whistler Mountain, and my favourite, Big White. While most nights were spent soaking in hot tubs, our aching bodies were a small price to pay. And after spending two luxurious nights in Vancouver, it was time to make the long journey home.
Until next time, Canada.
