MY EVERYDAY COSMETICS

As I continue to embark on this little adventure known as fashion blogging, I discover myself becoming more and more fascinated by beauty, and yes, beauty blogs. Truth be told, I'm the girl that looks like a lost puppy in a beauty department. Don't get me wrong, walking into Sephora (which I truly wish we had here in Australia) or the David Jones beauty department feels as though I'm in the midst of heaven, but I really have no idea where to start and what to look for unless I have a specific product in mind. Place me in the middle of the women's fashion department and I'll never lose my bearings, though searching for the right skin care and make-up is a whole new level of challenging. That is exactly why I fell so madly deeply in-love with Sephora - staff aren't stuck behind the counter of one particular brand, which means finding the right product (and brand!) is done with absolute ease.

The cosmetics featured above are my go-to every day products. I've invested time and research to make sure the make-up I use is the best for me and my needs. I personally believe that finding the right foundation is one of the most grueling tasks ever (and can be very expensive). I've tried a whole range of foundations including Revlon, MAC and Chanel, but by far my favourite is Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation. It gives the coverage I desire without giving my face the complexion of a cake.

I wear a combination of drug store and high end cosmetic brands, from Face of Australia to Dior. From my experience you can achieve the same look whether you're willing to spend $10 or $100 per item, though I've always been one to invest in products I believe in (such as my foundation, Urban Decay palettes and DiorShow Iconic mascara). However, you never know when a product will be released that is of designer quality at an extremely affordable price. For example, if you follow my Instagram or Twitter feeds you'll know that I recently discovered Face of Australia. I picked up a couple of lipsticks, blushes and liquid eyeliner (most for under $10!) which I was extremely impressed with. The HD Liquid Liner easily stands out as the best liquid liner I have ever used, which retails for a ridiculous $11.95. For those of you not familiar with the beauty industry here in Australia, we pay double, if not more, for the exact same products, so finding such an affordable brand without sacrificing quality is cause for celebration.

To say I am a beauty guru would be the biggest oversell of the century, but I feel as though perhaps I'm making headway. Special thanks to YouTube, #bbloggers and Sephora staff, for I refuse to be a lost puppy forever.
