3 Outfits I Planned on Wearing in Bora Bora

Since we cancelled our trip to French Polynesia (we were supposed to depart on the 16th March as my present to Brad for his 30th birthday) for obvious reasons—the very best reasons really—I decided this week that I’d wear a few of the outfits I’d planned for our time in beautiful Bora Bora. Sure, these photos don’t have the picturesque background of an overwater bungalow and Mt Otemanu, but our bedroom is a close second anyway.

OUTFIT #1:

This gorgeous sky blue dress has been sitting on my clothes rack for ages now, begging me to wear it, so I simply had to give in to its temptation.

Initially, it was the perfect light blue fabric that caught my attention as I was scrolling on Revolve, but then I noticed the wrap-style off-shoulder top complete with spaghetti straps, synched in waist and flared skirt, and knew it would be the perfect addition to my holiday wardrobe. Or, as it turns out, to my self-isolation style.

I styled it with layered gold necklaces, including a super affordable chunky gold-linked choker necklace, a wooden beaded bag and espadrille flatforms I’ve had for forever (I’ve found a similar style here).

I’m wearing:
Superdown dress from Revolve, Rubi gold necklace, Husskie beaded bag, and Rag and Bone espadrilles (old – similar here).

Outfit #2:

A pair of black pants in the tropical weather of Bora Bora? Umm, are you crazy? No, no I’m not.

At closer inspection, you’ll notice that these pants are made from a divine sheer georgette fabric, perfect for those of you who insist on only wearing black even on a summer holiday. They’re light, breezy and breathable, and I’m just a bit in-love.

In fact, they’re so comfy that I’ve been lazing around at home in them too, since it’s still far too hot to snuggle up in a pair of tracksuit pants.

Staying true to all-black island style, I paired them with my new Lilly & Lime halter neck bikini top and cheeky bottoms (if you’re on the bustier side, you’re going to love this Aussie swimwear label).

*Bare feet not optional.

I’m wearing:
Lilly & Lime bikini top, House of Harlow 1960 pants from Revolve and Rubi bag.

Outfit #3:

When I posted this outfit on Instagram, I had no idea how much you’d fall head-over-heels for the light beige mini skirt. Of course, I should’ve known better with its dreamy draped overlay and ruched side detail, which have transformed it from basic to brilliant.

I’d tossed up styling it with a white linen shirt or cropped top, but ended up going for the latter, knowing full well if we’d been in Bora Bora I would’ve worn it more than once in as many different combinations as possible. Like I said, it’s a spectacular piece and deserves to be worn, even if that’s just from the lounge to the fridge and back.

It was the perfect outfit to finally bring out my striped wooden detail clutch for too (you’d be surprised by how hard it is to style). I purchased it last year, but have linked a couple of similar bags here and here. I completed the outfit with a pair of comfy slide sandals.

I’m wearing:
Sheike top, Lovers and Friends skirt from Revolve, Zara clutch bag (old – similar here) and Rubi sandals (sold out – similar here).
